The Praxis Institute was founded in 1988 as America Duran Skin Care, Massage & Nail School. In 1991, the institution began expanding its academic scope into massage school Miami and healthcare programs, and in 1999, the school changed its name to The Praxis Institute. Over the years, our focus as an academic community has remained constant - we strive to provide career education in employable fields for students and their communities.

Therapeutic Massage Technician
Are you ready to become part of a healthcare profession and enhance the physical well-being of those who need it? At The Praxis Institute, therapeutic massage technicians work to understand human anatomy and physiology and can use that knowledge to successfully apply hydrotherapy, heliotherapy and therapeutic massage. Our program emphasizes the development of dexterity in the application of massage techniques.

Once a student has completed the program he or she will receive a diploma and a certification in spa therapies. The Therapeutic Massage Technician program can prepare students for state licensure exam given by National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
(NCBTMB) or by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (MBLex).
Upon passing, students can apply to receive their Florida State License.
Students successfully completing the 600 hours will receive a diploma. Upon completion of this program and passing the licensure exam, students may be employed as entry-level massage therapists.
Advanced Therapeutic, Sports & Clinical Massage
Are you interested in therapeutic, sports and clinical massage and relieving a patient's acute and chronic pain?
Through The Praxis Institute's Advanced Therapeutic, Sports & Clinical Massage program, students obtain a diploma, and in addition, certification in spa therapies, deep tissue, sport massage, electro-stimulation, ultrasound, laser, neuromuscular therapy and holistic lymphatic drainage.
Employment opportunities can be found in spas, facilities that treat athletic injuries and both clinical and medical settings as part of patient rehabilitation. Course curriculum includes:
In order to complete this program, you must complete 900 hours of theory and practice as well as 115 services as part of your applied clinical training. Services include face and neck massage, deep tissue massage, hand and arm massage, NMT massage, abdomen massage, sports massage, foot
and leg massage, pathology, back massage and full body massage.
Upon completion of this program, students can have the skills and knowledge to apply and sit for state licensure exam by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) or by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (MBLex).
